Falcons and Wolves play another classic!
Saint Thomas and Loranger trade comebacks in final two minutes.
LORANGER—The JV Falcons and Wolves got together Tuesday for the second time this season and put on another thrilling show. The two teams
played to a 0-0 tie in the first half and then traded comeback rallies with Saint Thomas converting three fourth downs to tie the score at six with
1:47 left and the Wolves converting a 52-yard tipped plass play woth 38 seconds left to take the lead 12-6. The Falcons got one last chance to
rally again, but an interception in Wolves’ territory sealed it for Loranger.
Defense dominated the first half as the Falcons collected 117 yards and the Wolves managed only 66 yards. Both squads notched
two sacks and Loranger collected a turnover.
The Wolves broke the 0-0 stalemate on their opening drive of the second half as they marched 65 yards in 15 plays to paydirt
chewing up the entire quarter as sophomore signal-caller Hayden Joiner hit D.D. Magee for a 24-yard touchdown. The try for two failed, but the Wolves led
6-0 with two seconds showing.
The Falcons responded with a drive on their next possession as sophomore Dillon Lee marched Saint Thomas into Wolves’ territory
completing three passes for 39 yards, but a fumbled snap ended the scoring threat as Loranger's Jamie Carr recovered the miscue.
The Falcon defense forced a quick three-and-out giving their offense another opportunity. This time in dramatic fashion the Saint
Thomas offense delivered converting three straight fourth and long plays to keep an 80-yard scoring drive alive. Lee capped off the drive
with a 24-yard touchdown strike to Blanton Burgess on fourth down. The try for two fell short as Magee stopped sophomore Luke Bleakey at the one yardline,
but the Falcons had evened the score at six with 1:47 remaining.
The Wolves went quietly on their next possession giving Saint Thomas the ball on their 36 with 1:26 remaining with a chance to
win or ensure a tie, but sophomore Dillon Corbin picked off a Lee pass that set the Wolves up at their 48. Joiner wasted no time finding Magee on the next
play for a 52-yard touchdown as Magee collected a short, tipped pass and raced the distance for a touchdown.
The Falcons got one last chance to rally with 38 seconds left, but after converting one first down, Barber robbed the Falcons for
a second time intercepting a pass to seal the win for Loranger.

LORANGER—Sophomore quarterback Dillon Lee engineered an eight-play drive in the fourth quarter completing a four-yard pass on
fourth down to sophomore Blanton Burgess to put the Falcons up 12-8 over Loranger with 5:36 left to play. The impressive drive
would not be enough, however, as the Wolves answered with a nine-play drive to secure a 14-12 win with just 2:43 remaining.
The Falcons opened the contest with a 65-yard nine-play drive capped off by an 11-yard run by sophomore Javeon
Francis for a touchdown. A 13-yard pass from Lee to sophomore Luke Bleakley on second down secured a key first down on the drive
and a 14-yard run by Bleakley set the Falcons up in scoring position.
Saint Thomas forced a three-out on Loranger’s next possession and Lee completed three passes to pick up a pair
of first downs, but the drive stalled and the Falcons were forced to punt. Loranger took over getting on the board quickly with four-play,
65-yard drive. Sophomore Deandre Bickham setup the Wolves score with a 27-yard gallop and two plays later sophomore Justin Zanders
finished off the drive with a 21-yard dash to the end zone. Loranger converted the try for two on a run by sophomore quarterback
Dillon Corbin to give the Wolves an 8-6 advantage with 6:06 showing before halftime.
Dillon led the Falcon answer to the Loranger score early in the fourth with an eight-play drive that
ended on fourth and goal when the sophomore quarter found Burgess alone in the back of the end zone. The try for two failed, but the
Falcons led 12-8 with 5:36 left.
The Wolves returned the favor on their next possession getting solid running from Corbin and Bickham as the two
combined for 43-yard rushing on the drive with Bickham doing the honors with a 22-yard gallop for a touchdown. The PAT failed but
Loranger led 14-12 with just 2:43 left. The Wolves’ defense would stall out the Falcon’s final drive to secure the win.
